Man Card: Groomsmen Edition

Alright gentlemen, that day has come – your closest friend has found the partner of his dreams, he’s getting married, and he’s chosen you to be one of his trusty groomsmen. This means that it is time to bring out the Man Card – a Groom’s Guide for His Groomsmen on the Wedding Day. Groomsmen, you have been entrusted with a mighty code of ethics. This card can be humorous, serious, or a little bit of both…Enjoy!

Code 1

Avoid eye contact with anyone when approaching the alter, at all costs! Eye contact is awkward for yourself and whoever you are awkwardly staring at. DO NOT BE AWKWARD.

Code 2

Be on time. Set alarms and triple check your arrival time. A punctual day is a stress-free day.

Code 3

If the groom sheds a tear at anytime, pretend you didn’t see it. If you did see it, don’t make eye contact with him while he is crying. It just makes it weirder.

Code 4

Be knowledgeable of your surroundings. As a groomsman, you’ll be seen as a leader.

Code 5

Don’t call or text the groom in the 24 hours immediately following the ceremony unless you are offering food or it’s an emergency. It’s newlywed time.

Code 6

If the groom can’t dance, please don’t bust a move near him at the reception to avoid making him look bad. If he does dance and it’s embarrassing, make sure to cover him and remove all cameras from the area.

Code 7

If you can’t dance…don’t.

Code 8

Be a problem solver. Your goal is to make the day as stress-free as possible. If there is a problem you can fix without involving the bride and groom, do so.

Code 9

If you are given a microphone, don’t embarrass the groom… OR ELSE.

Code 10

Get the party started! If guests seem hesitant to indulge in the food and activities, be the first ones to participate and lead the way.

Code 11

If you’ve forgotten how hygiene works, today is not the day. Please make sure to brush your teeth, comb your hair and wear deodorant.

Code 12

Be a best friend. The wedding day, although exciting is also nerve-wracking. Help the groom laugh, feel confident, and be prepared to offer him tissues and water. Whatever you can do to make his day amazing, do it.

Code 13

You shall not propose to your significant other on your friend’s wedding day. The venue is romantic, I know, but since it isn’t your day to shine, that would just be weird, okay.

Summary

Thou shalt uphold the codes of the Man Card at all times or otherwise risk your status being revoked indefinitely :)

Groomsmen, we hope you had just as much fun reading the Man Card as we did writing it. Remember, these Man Cards can be customized how you see fit. We did a mix of funny and necessary tips to provide inspiration, but you can create whatever codes you like to make this day easy, stress-free, and relaxed for yourselves and the groom.
