Top 5 Most Stressful Jobs
It's no surprise that military personnel, police officers, firefighters, and pilots have some of the most stressful jobs. But what may surprise you is what the number five position on that list is… any guesses?
According to a recent study done by CareerCast, the fifth most stressful job is an event planner. This might surprise you at first but when you think about all the travel, long (and often odd) hours, interaction with the public, fixed deadlines, and the myriad details involved all contribute to that stress level.
Still, the biggest reason why the event planner career path rounds out the Top 5 list of most stressful jobs is due to “keeping up with the speed of change.” In the event space plans, trends, technology, and client needs and expectations are constantly changing conditioning the planner to be on their toes at all times. When your aunt can’t make the wedding last minute and you need to change up seating arrangements - that responsibility falls on your event planner. When the cake falls over as its being brought into the venue, your planner needs to adapt on a moment's notice and be ready with a new plan of action.
Aside from event-specific related changes - the industry itself is constantly changing meaning that event professionals need to stay on top of these changes to continue honing their skills and creating unique experiences.
