Wedding Color Palette Trends

Be ready to start seeing bright bold color wedding palettes in 2021.

Choosing your wedding colors is one of the first and most important decisions you will make when it comes to your big day as it will dictate everything you decide on from flowers, décor, linens, and even bridal party attire.

While couples will still opt for a neutral color palette, some might decide to incorporate bright, vibrant hues and bold patterns.

Bringing in pops of color will give an otherwise neutral space just the right amount of zing to make their wedding ceremony/reception spaces truly come alive.

Scared to use such a bold color palette, then consider incorporating your color choices sparingly like in a napkin, charger plate, runner, signage, furniture, or any accent décor.

The key is to make sure whatever colors you choose fit the season of your wedding as well as your venue(s), and your wedding style. Don’t forget to choose colors that are also flattering to your skin tone.

How to select your color palette:

  1. Select your base color and then add a few accent colors that would complement one another.

  2. Can't decide on a collection of colors that look good together? Keep it simple by sticking with one color and opting for an ombré-inspired palette instead. You don't need an assortment of different colors to create a gorgeous palette — for example, a wedding with three or four shades of purple (or whichever color you like best!) can look just as beautiful as one with a rainbow of colors. This option is also excellent for creating a more modern, monochromatic look with your wedding decor.

A great resource to figure out which colors you like and would work best for your wedding is to start with Pinterest. Another great option is to go to your local hardware store and search out the paint sample cards.

Patterns

Brides are always searching for the next best way to inject unique style into their wedding design, including bold patterns and prints! The best part about them is that a little goes a long way. Carry the theme throughout your details by lining your invitation envelopes with a patterned design, tying a strip of fabric around your bouquet, or opting to have your bridesmaids wear a patterned dress for instant sass.

If you have a wedding planner/designer, make sure to talk over your color ideas and work together along with your florist to create a mood board and how you will use each of your color selections in all aspects of your wedding from save the dates to favors.
